Long Term Storage Instructions
If you are not planning on or do not think you will be using your equipment for extended periods of time please follow the provided guidelines for proper storage of your device.
PDA
Axim X5- You should not leave the PDA
unplugged for more than 1 week, if left with a full charge. Simply
leave it charging in the cradle or with the wall adapter. If you do
not plan on using it in the near future follow the guidelines below.
Make a full system backup using the Dell Software, call it Sdate_unit (S09-18-04_101.) Save a copy to the Built-In storage and or CF/SD card. If you plan to remove the memory card make sure you put the file on the Built-In storage.
Additionally the backup file can be transferred to a PC workstation for safekeeping.Turn the PDA off. Remove the backup battery and then the main battery. Store these in a safe cool dry place, preferably an air conditioned building.
Be sure to charge your main battery either before or immediately after reinserting into your PDA and allow the PDA to chargefully before using again.
GPS
Garmin 12XL
Store the Garmin 12XL with a set of new 4AA alkaline batteries. This should keep the internal backup battery charged for the duration of storage. Check the unit every few months to make sure the batteries still have some charge.
Camera
Nikon Coolpix 3100, Nikon Coolpix
885, Pentax 33WR and most other digital cameras.
Store the unit in a cool dry place with the batteries removed.
